Meet Our Keynote Speaker Natalie W. Nixon, PhD
In her consultancy, Figure 8 Thinking, LLC she helps organizations design smarter processes and systems, build strategy, and develop leaders by teaching and applying the strategic design process. Natalie is the Founding Director of the Strategic Design MBA program at Philadelphia University and is a published author: the editor of Strategic Design Thinking: Innovation in Products, Services, Experiences and Beyond and a regular contributor to INC.com online magazine on creativity and design thinking.
Topic: Inventiveness, Play and The Future of Learning
The field of education has been wildly disrupted in the past 10 years, and the tsunami effect is only just beginning. Educators, administrators and technologists must remain buoyant while also developing environments that help students to thrive. To do this, we must think through possible future scenarios around the future of work and how those narratives link back to our systems for learning. Natalie will explore connections between the future of work and the future of learning and leave us with alternative paradigms to ponder and hopefully begin applying.

The Blackbaud K–12 User Conference is the premier event for private schools. Hosted by Blackbaud, the conference brings together fundraisers, admission directors, IT directors, heads of schools, educators, financial managers, marketing and communication experts, and many more to discuss current trends, best practices, and outcome‐based solutions that connect your whole school. And, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to have fun along the way networking with your peers, industry experts, and Blackbaud staff and partners to help you gain more knowledge and experience with Blackbaud technology.
Registration cancellations received in writing on or prior to May 1, 2017, will be refunded, less a $75 (USD) processing fee. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after May 1, 2017. A check refund will be issued for all cancellations received 90 days after registration. No refunds will be granted for no-shows. Please send any information regarding cancellation via email to email@example.com.
Replacement of a registered K-12 UC attendee by a business colleague/co-worker will be accepted. One substitution per registration will be allowed at no charge if submitted by May 1, 2017. Beginning May 2, 2017, a $75 USD processing fee will apply to all substitutions before the event and onsite. Original registrant must submit a written request for substitution to firstname.lastname@example.org. A Blackbaud staff member will then contact the original registrant for more information on the substitute attendee. Payments for substitutions must be made before arriving onsite.

Earning CFRE Credits for Education
CFRE International offers the only internally recognized baseline professional credential for philanthropic fundraising executives. As stewards of the public trust, Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) International certifies fundraising professionals who demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and commitment to the highest standards of ethical and professional practice in serving the philanthropic sector. CFRE International fulfills this mission by establishing and administering a voluntary certification process based on current and valid standards that measure competency in the practice of philanthropic fundraising.
Earn CPE Credits for Education
As part of our continuing commitment to providing high-quality continuing professional education, Blackbaud is a registered sponsor of the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, a program offered by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). This registry recognizes that our continuing professional education for accountants meets nationally recognized standards.
Accountants are required by state governing boards to earn CPE credits to maintain and enhance their professional competence. As a registered sponsor, Blackbaud’s name and address is printed on a registry that is distributed to state boards of accountancy and made available to licensed accountants across the country. A link to Blackbaud’s website appears with our listing on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors on NASBA’s website, www.nasba.org.
Blackbaud is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org
Which sessions are eligible for CPE credits?
We will post which sessions are eligible for credits in early spring.
What are the prerequisites for participation?
There are no prerequisites to attend.
Is advanced preparation required?
No advanced preparation is required. Hands-on sessions require that you bring your personal laptop. Be sure to check the session descriptions for more information.
How are the number of CPE credits determined?
CPE credits are granted based on a 50-minute hour. Participants are eligible for 1 CPE credit for every 50 minutes of instruction attended.
- 1 hour sessions are eligible for 1 CPE credit
- 2 hour sessions are eligible for 2 CPE credits
Is CPE credit automatically awarded?
No. CPE credit is not automatically awarded. Letters or certificates of completion are available upon successfully completing a class. You are responsible for submitting this information to the State Boards of Accountancy.

Re: Request to Attend the 2017 Blackbaud K–12 User Conference
I’m writing to ask for approval to attend the 2017 Blackbaud K–12 User Conference July 12–14 in Boston. The conference is three full days of learning—best practices, hands-on training, and collaboration with more than 850 of my peers. I’ll have access to tons of breakout sessions with content designed exclusively for K–12 schools, and I’ll have the opportunity to hear from Travis Warren, SVP for Blackbaud’s K–12 Group, on his vision for the company’s future.
Registration costs are $995 for full conference access, but if we commit before March 15, we’ll save $100. The conference is a great, cost-effective way to ensure that we’re getting the most from our school software investment and should result in immediate ROI.
